I have incorporated the 'Whatever Became of?' links into the Stamp Links listings of stamp companies. To view only the listings from Whatever Became of?, put "WBO" in the 'filter' box at the top of the alphabetical category page.
copied from my original webpage after I assumed management of this directory (Joan's Original Page was Created on 5/30/03)UPDATE 10/5/06: Hi everyone, my name is David ... I have taken over responsibility for updating and maintaining this valuable FREE rubber stamp resource while Joan is dealing with her personal & family health issues. I'm sure we all wish her well and a speedy recovery. I offered to help her with this page since I was afraid it might get lost in the shuffle. I personally have used it to help my customers find old stamp companies that had "disappeared". It can be a very difficult, time consuming and often fruitless job to get the internet to direct searches to a different address when an old stamp brand has a new owner. >So if you are wondering "Whatever Happened To..." this central repository of information can often give you an answer. Although, not always the one you want : ) I have just finished a complete overhaul of the page and have checked ALL the website links. I went to each website and "looked around", often I was unable to determine if the company was still in business. If I found anything that looked like it had been updated, or a date that was for this year, I noted the website as current. I found many websites with no hint of maintenance, no current newsletters or notices, with original "created on" copyright notices dating back many years. I marked these as "website works, but no current dates". They may still be active, let me know. If the website was not found or went to something completely different I listed it as "not found or not working". I found many links to what I call a "Link Farm", this is a misleading webpage that has apparant links to the "content" of the original company, but in reality has links to searches or other websites. This is what happens when a website domain expires, and the registrar "warehouses" the domain name. Instead of allowing the domain to be made available when no longer wanted by the previous owner, the registrar company will retain control. NOTE: Never allow your web domain name to expire! If you don't want it any longer transfer it to someone - ANYONE! Give it to me! LOL - over 30 million domain names are warehoused right now.
